Apple has released the latest version of iOS 8, the iOS 8.1.3 and many users are upgrading to it. The new update is working nicely and has fixed many bugs and security issues. Among these ‘issues’, jailbreaking has also been bashed. So there is a bad news for all those who have downloaded and installed iOS 8.1.3: You cannot jailbreak your device using Pangu, PP, TaiG. Not only this, the latest update will catch your device and stop it because Apple has put patch fixed in the update. So if you are running iOS 8.1.3 on your iPhone or iPad and the device is jailbroken, be on the guard. Apple is still letting the iOS devices run the previous version of the iOS. So you can easily downgrade iOS 8.1.3 to iOS 8.1.2.

All of us get bored by seeing same wallpaper again and again on iPhone. It would be fascinating if wallpaper keeps on updating periodically without user intervention. Well, this is quite possible if you have a jailbroken device. iOS developer Timm has released a great tweak called as Wallmart. It can change iPhone wallpaper automatically and makes your iPhone look wonderful.

Previously I covered how to get the famous Android Lock screen on your iPod Touch or iPhone. It really looks cool but the problem arises when you forget your lock pattern. There have been hundreds of such cases where you are locked out of your own iPod Touch because you forgot the lock pattern and there’s no simple way of uninstalling or removing the app.

Microsoft is finally seeing the light as possibilities for opening doors to homebrew micro-developers have been spearheaded by Brandon Watson, Director of Developer Experience for Windows Phone 7 who has taken the soft approach of dealing with hackers as if they are merely a Windows hosting reseller. By inviting the likes of George “Geohot” Hotz, Rafael Rivera, Chris Walsh and Long Zheng for an alliance, the said executive has been dubbed as Microsoft's tech evangelist. So why is that such a big deal?

This must be annoying for a lot of people. Watching a video on your iPhone or iPod touch or iPad and all of a sudden the lock screen appears and the video is paused. You will either have to increase the wait time of your lock screen or let it go altogether which is what I did with my iPod touch. But with this new app available on Cydia, you can continue to watch the video even when the lock screen appears.

Out of a total of 100 million iPhones out there, 10% or 10 million use Cydia as an alternative App Store or where they find more then 30,000 apps (or packages as they’re called) which is approximately 1/3rd of apps listed on Apple’s App Store. Saurik (the developer behind Cydia) calls it the App Store for jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. After revolutionizing the mobile app business with App Store for iDevices, Apple announced that it’s going to launch App Store for Mac. Following on, Saurik just announced at the 360|MacDev that he is going to launch Cydia for Mac.

Apple has just released iOS update 4.1 which is a major release and the first after the rebranding of iPhone OS to iOS. Since it’s a major release, we expect some big leaps and improvements, additions and most-needed patches. Here’s a list of new features as well as patches added in iOS update 4.1

Unlike the now-popular JailbreakMe which lets you jailbreak your iPhone 4 (and older) and iPod touch (all models) with just a single click, there is definite news that a new bootrom based exploit will be released in just a matter of days? iOS 4.1 update has been shipped by Apple already and the timing of this new jailbreak exploit is surely exciting. JailbreakMe and all other previous jailbreak tools use leaks in the iOS (previously known as iPhone OS) to jailbreak your iDevice but with a bootrom based jailbreak, you will have even more control like you would be able to change the boot logo among other things.

Apple has just released iOS 4.0.2 update for iPhone which patches the PDF exploit that was used by JailbreakMe.com for jailbreaking iPhone 4. It’s been said that there is absolutely nothing new added in this minor iOS update other then the patch for the exploit. The update is simple and all you need to do is connect your iPhone to iTunes and wait for the popup (or click here to download iOS 4.0.2 directly).

George Hotz, or @geohot as he is famously known has finally broken his silence on iPhone 4 jailbreak and has posted some fresh proceedings on his jailbreak. Prior to iPhone 4 launch, Geohot registered a domain name that resembled his one-click iPhone 2G, 3G, 3Gs and iPod Touch (2G and 3G non MC models) jailbreak tool Blackra1n. The new domain name was Limera1n. But ever since the release of iPhone 4, there was no update from Geohot on Jailbreak.
