After a comparatively long wait and after the release of Google Nexus One, Aimagendroid SDK 2.1 Release 1 is out. Even though the release notes suggest that there are minor changes from the previous update but I will not categorize them as minor. Take a look at the updates yourself:

The downloadable system image contains the following built-in applications:

  • Alarm Clock
  • Browser
  • Calculator
  • Camera
  • Contacts
  • Custom Locale (developer app)
  • Dev Tools (developer app)
  • Email
  • Gallery
  • IMEs for Japanese, Chinese, and Latin text input
  • Messaging
  • Music
  • Phone
  • Settings
  • Spare Parts (developer app)

Besides, there are a couple of custom skins in the system image and also support for animated wallpapers. Designers will love this.

Android is the next big thing happening in the smart phone world and if you are an aspiring developer then you do not want to miss on this one. There are already thousands of apps and a few app stores selling apps built for Android phones and now with Nexus One out, there will be huge demand for Android apps. Get started now.
