Microsoft announced that it is bankrolling Windows 7 ‘E’ version (E stands for Europe) that was specially designed for the EU region after a suit was filed against the giaimagent for monopolizing the market and killing competition by bundling it’s browser, Internet Explorer with every Windows installation. Win7 version E would rather ‘ask’ at the time of installation about which browser to install from the list of popular browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and others.

Microsoft has now announced the cancellation of version ‘E’ after concerns from hardware manufacturers that it might sideline the EU market and confuse consumers about which version to buy and instead has proposed Ballot Screen to show different browsers to choose from. This option will also be available to Windows XP and Vista users through Windows Updates (make sure you have updates enabled). Those who have already signed up for version ‘E’ will be getting full Windows 7 version.
