This is an EPIC example of how a giant moves into wrong territories. The news is that Google has formed Google Energy LLC which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the “Web giant” Google will:

identify and develop opportunities to contain and manage the cost of energy for Google

But this does not seem to be enough. The filing further states that Google Energy LLC will also:

act as a power marketer, purchasing electricity and reselling it to wholesale customers.

It seems that Google is going to be the first major company to form a wholly-owned subsidiary for managing the generation and consumption of energy (electricity to be specific) for it’s use as well as sell off the surplus.

Even though Google has been successfully experimenting with Green Energy and therefore this initiative comes as no surprise for those who know the amount of energy it takes for all the Google’s datacenters to operate.
