With so many different cloud offerings by some of the biggest names in the industry like Google Docs, Microsoft’s Live Services, Amazon’s S3 and the like it pretty much becomes a heck of a task managing them all especially when every service has a different interface and credentials.

Gladinet is a desktop software which lets you manage 13 different cloud storage services right from your desktop! The list includes almost all common cloud services like:

  • Google Picassa
  • Google Docs
  • Box.net
  • Webdav server anonymous and generic
  • FTP server

With Gladinet, you can mount any of these cloud storage services as a local drive on your computer. Any update to your data is synchronized online whenever you connect to the internet. It’s like your local drive in the cloud!

I will demonstrate how you can mount your Google Docs account as a local drive on your computer.

Step 1:

Download and Install Gladinet. The Beginner version is FREE so you can start with it and upgrade later if you really like it.image

Once it’s installed, the Gladinet Cloud Desktop welcome screen looks like this:image

Step 2:

Mounting Google Docs as local drive:

Click “Mount Disk Storage or Web Storage As Virtual Directory” button in the welcome box. Select “Google Docs” from the list as Storage Provider

The click next and then click “Finish” to start the mounting process. It will take around 40 seconds for the mounting process at the end of which a windows explorer will open up displaying your Google Docs folder right there as a local drive! Take a look at mine:

Once a drive has been mounted you can use it like any other drive and not only this but you can initiate multiple management tasks too like creating a backup of your Google Docs even though Gladinet maintains a cache as well. Some other controls include:

Any other Cloud Storage service will be mounted in this Gladinet Drive and a separate folder will be create for it. This way all your cloud storage services are managed from this single hub.
