With HP Slate almost gone, ExoPC’s Windows 7 powered tablet will be the first Windows 7 powered tablet. ExoPC’s founder has announced that Windows 7 tablet will be launching in US, Canada and France on September 7, three months from now.

The UI looks absolutely awesome in photos. The tablet will have it’s own custom ExoPC UI which will run on top of Windows 7. It’s quite clear that the UI inspiration is taken from Windows 7 Phone. Here are the specs released so far:

  • Memory: 2GB
  • HDD: 32GB SSD
  • Screen: 11.6 inch capacitive touch screen

  • Price: Starting from $599 for 32GB model
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth support: Yes

This looks a lot like iPad’s iBook app UI?

Criticism:

Apart from the Windows 7 Touch apps, there isn’t much in Windows 7 that’s made for a multi-touch device. ExoPC official website states that it’s a ExoPC UI running on top of Windows 7.  ExoPC has also announced that it will also launch an App Store for the Win7 tablet but unless there are Windows 7 based multi-touch apps, there is little in terms of the touch experience. It’s also not sure whether users will have the ability to use Stylus with this tablet but considering that it’s a capacitive touch screen, there is no point in using a Stylus (other then your own fingers of course). Update 1:

Jean-Baptiste, who is the founder of ExoPC has confirmed that Stylus will be included and a hands-on demo video is on it’s way pretty soon!
