Dennis Ritchie died today at the age of 70. Who was he and why you should care? Well there are 2 main reasons that make him a very important person in the history of computer science.
Unix
C
He is the one that co-created Unix and he is also the one who created the C programming language. Unix Operating System and C Programming language are among the most important inventions in the history computer software. Without these inventions, we might not be able to see the computer and mobile devices the way they are nowadays. C language and Unix are the 2 things on which the modern software world is built upon.

A year ago I left ProgrammerFish for a project called MerryCode. It is going well and finally I got time to get back to ProgrammerFish. ProgrammerFish is inactive from couple of months because the other co-founder Salman has also become busy after co-founding, a startup,TunaCode that provides GPU accelerated computer solutions (Checkout CUVILib, one of their CUDA based library that is doing good)
I wont have much time to write here because soon I will get busy in some other projects but we will be hiring bloggers and we already got some new contributors that will keep writing the quality content and I will remain attached to ProgrammerFish by being the Community Manager.
I, Umair Khan Jadoon, the co-founder and editor in chief of ProgrammerFish will not be editing or publishing any content on this blog for now. That means Salman Ul Haq will now be solely running this blog and I will still be acting as co-founder but will not be able to discharge my editorial tasks. You can catch me up at my new blog: MerryCode.
I will be focusing on my new blog so I will not be able to stay active here, that’s why I have left it for Salman. Keep reading ProgrammerFish for more interesting articles.
Your suggestions on how ProgrammerFish can quench your reading instincts will really help.

One of the most loved 3D fighting game and my favorite: Tekken is now coming to iPhone. FoneHome has confirmed that Tekken is at the end of development process and it will hopefully make an appearance in the App store in March 2010.
It’s not confirmed that it will be the classic version of Tekken or a scaled down version of Tekken 6. As reported by FoneHome:
Last night in the Oscars, Apple aired the first TV commercial of iPad. Steve Jobs was also there at the ceremony. This 30 seconds advertisement is very inspiring. Airing advertisements on the events like this is really valuable. Apple’s marketing strategies have proved great success in the past years.
If you are a Hollywood fan and you love Oscars then this is for you. I just spotted the free Oscars App on the Apple App Store that is officially from The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. The app allows you to have a look at Oscar nominees, get insider information about movies, view trailers, make predictions and look at the predictions made by other users of the app.

When Windows Phone 7 was announced, there was a sound for the chance of possibility that the HTC HD2 will be one of the Windows mobile device that will get the Windows Phone 7 update. 2 days ago, Neowin reported that WinMo 6.5.X phones are not compatible for Windows Phone 7 Series. Natasha Kwan, the General Manager for Microsoft's Mobile Communications Business in the Asia-Pacific region, said:
“the powerful HD2 "doesn't qualify because it doesn't have the three buttons."
It is now officially confirmed by Microsoft that HTC HD2 will not get the Windows Phone 7 update.
