If your life is on internet and you are concerned with your privacy then you must be keeping separate privacy concerns for the services you use. Like sharing information on twitter can be different for you as compared to sharing it with your close friends on Facebook. Social Media giants are trying to convince us that the age of privacy is over because they need to make more money.

Overview

Google China got tired of censorship applied by the Chinese Government for the Google’s Chinese version. Google refused to censor the results and tension occurred. Google threatened government either to do Google way or they will leave China. Discussions are going on and later on Google became a victim of massive cyber attack occurring from China.

Discussions

Like many other well-known organizations, we face cyber attacks of varying degrees on a regular basis. In mid-December, we detected a highly sophisticated and targeted attack on our corporate infrastructure originating from China that resulted in the theft of intellectual property from Google. As part of our investigation we have discovered that at least twenty other large companies from a wide range of businesses--including the Internet, finance, technology, media and chemical sectors--have been similarly targeted. We are currently in the process of notifying those companies, and we are also working with the relevant U.S. authorities

Computer and software security company McAfee last week identified a vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer as a key vector in the cyberattacks that hit Google and over 30 other companies in a high-profile, multi-staged and concentrated effort to hack into specific computer systems in order to obtain intellectual property.

Redmond has since issued a security advisory and later published its own risk assessment of the zero-day threat. This morning, McAfee announced that it is offering consumers and businesses further guidance on what it refers to as ‘Operation Aurora’.

THE Great Wall of China was largely built in the mid-15th century to keep out the invading hordes of the vast Mongol Empire. It succeeded, and much of the wall survives today as a great tourist attraction. Last century, China's Communist Party perceived a threat to its rule in the vast flow of uncensored information on the internet, and responded with the ''Great Firewall of China'', the most ambitious web-filtering system in the world. Now, a decade into the 21st century, online business empire Google, with the backing of the US, has mounted what may be a landmark challenge to Beijing.
